Single rope technique, or SRT, is the method used by vertical cavers to navigate pitches using one static rope fixed to bolts at the top of the drop. The caver descends using a descender and ascends using a pair of ascenders, generally a chest ascender and a foot ascender, allowing efficient and controlled movement up and down the rope.
