Our location
Our UK operation is based at:
Southern Ropes UK
21 Wingate Road
Gosport
PO12 4DR
United Kingdom
Our facility in Gosport provides a central base from which we can serve customers across the UK and worldwide. From this location, we hold a wide range of stock, manage technical enquiries, custom rope fabrication, in-house splicing and dispatch. This gives you one UK point of contact from first enquiry through to delivery.
We hold commercial and specialist rope, including HMPE and marine rope for a range of applications. Where an application requires a tailored assembly, we can prepare the rope to the agreed specification before it leaves us. That may include cutting to length, splicing terminations or adding the fittings needed to finish the assembly.
Technical support and order handling are done from the same place, so specification, fabrication, documentation and delivery stay joined up.
How we work with customers
You don’t need to visit us in person to buy rope. We supply rope, assemblies and associated equipment directly to where you need them, whether that is a site, quayside, port, vessel or distribution network.
Before dispatch, we work according to your requirements. For a stocked item, that usually means picking the right diameter, construction and length and sending it out. For a custom order, our team prepares the assembly in-house at Gosport before it’s dispatched.
This is useful when a job needs more than a coil of rope. We bring the rope, hardware and paperwork together so it arrives complete and ready to use.
For specialist rope work, the detail matters. Tell us how and where the equipment will be used, alongside the required dimensions, load considerations, termination requirements and certification needs. We can then help you choose the right rope and accessories for the job.
Who we support
The UK is our main market. We support customers across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, including commercial marine operations, commercial fishing, rope access, offshore energy, construction and infrastructure projects.
We work with the people responsible for rope used at height or under load: site managers, vessel and fleet managers, engineers, rope access managers, lifting and rigging specialists and procurement teams.
Outside the UK, we supply customers in Europe, the Middle East and the Americas. Our team can help coordinate shipping depending on your destination, freight method, package size and required paperwork.
If you need certificates or traceability records, let us know when you order so they’re ready to travel with the rope.
Supporting customers beyond our local area
We arrange delivery across the UK and worldwide, with timescales dependent on stock availability, the level of customisation required and the delivery route.
Our large UK stockholding capabilities allow for quick dispatch, with stocked products normally delivered within one to two days across mainland UK, depending on postcode. If an order is urgent, speak to us early. Our team can check availability and discuss the quickest available dispatch options for your location.
Custom work takes a little longer, so if you need splicing, special terminations, non-standard lengths or certificates, tell us early and we’ll build it into the schedule. This allows the order to be assembled and checked before collection or dispatch.
For International orders, we will discuss suitable shipping options and expected delivery times with you. This is particularly relevant for bulk commercial orders and large-diameter rope, where package dimensions and handling need to be planned with the carrier. We will discuss the delivery destination and the suitable shipping arrangement as part of the quotation process.
For marine buyers reviewing their options, our mooring tails guide explains key considerations for this type of equipment.
A trusted UK rope partner
Southern Ropes supplies commercial and specialist rope across the UK and worldwide, backed by our manufacturing capability in South Africa. We provide more than standalone rope where the application requires it, helping with specification, custom assembly, certification and delivery.
Our quality credentials include ISO 9001 and BV Mode 2. For buyers managing compliance, this supports a structured approach to the rope supplies and records they need to procure.
Working with our team can also reduce the burden of coordinating multiple suppliers. We can discuss the operating environment, specify the rope requirement, prepare custom work where needed, and arrange dispatch from our Gosport facility.
Speak to Southern Ropes about your requirements. We will discuss the application, documentation needs and delivery destination before recommending the next step.
